I am so happy that you prayed to ask Jesus to be the King of your heart. This is a new and exciting beginning for you. It took courage and a little faith—but God heard your prayer.
Now that you’ve invited Jesus to be your Lord, He will give you direction, guidance, comfort, and peace. He will walk with you each day as His purpose for your life unfolds.
How Do We Know We’re Going to Heaven?
Let’s review the ABCs of salvation:
- Admit: I have done wrong. I am a sinner. God cannot allow sin into heaven—it would no longer be perfect.
- Believe: Jesus died for my sins and rose again, proving He was the real deal.
- Confess: Ask for God’s forgiveness, turn from sin with His help, and confess Jesus as Lord and Savior—my boss.
Just As You Are
We don’t have to clean up our lives before coming to God. He isn’t impressed with our good works—He is sinless and offers us forgiveness and freedom.
Your prayer may have sounded something like this:
“Dear Jesus,
I admit I have done wrong, and that I am a sinner. I am sorry for my sin.
I believe You died in my place and rose again.
So I confess my sins to You. Please forgive me and give me a new beginning.
I ask You to be the boss and Lord of my heart.
Help me now to live for You.
Thank You for Your great love and forgiveness.
I pray this in Jesus’ name… amen!”
If you meant that prayer, God heard you immediately. Your sins are forgiven and you now have a clean slate and a new beginning.
How to Grow in Your Faith
- Read the Bible and Pray Daily – Start with the Book of John to learn more about Jesus.
- Find a Bible-believing Church – Look for one that teaches a personal relationship with Jesus.
- Be Water Baptized – Publicly declare your new life in Christ.
- Be Filled with the Holy Spirit – Read Acts 1–5 and ask God to fill and use you daily.
- Tell Others – Share your story with someone soon.
